Live updates from the 2024 Lok Sabha election results reveal the final tally: the BJP has secured victory in 240 out of 543 seats, while the Congress has managed to secure 99 seats. However, it's worth noting that the counting was conducted for 542 seats due to the uncontested election of BJP's Surat candidate, Mukesh Dalal. With this outcome, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is poised to lead the government for a third consecutive term, backed by the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which has secured a majority in the Lok Sabha. Although the BJP fell short of the 272-majority mark, it will collaborate with NDA allies to form the government. Notably, the election results didn't match the landslide victory initially expected by the BJP-led NDA or as suggested by exit polls.
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Tuesday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take “moral responsibility" and “resign" as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that claimed to win more than 370 seats in the Lok Sabha election 2024, is lagging behind even the majority mark of 272 seats.
