The Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana has boosted rural connectivity with the construction of over 16,000 km of roads and more than 900 bridges.
The Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihood Mission has created 2 crore Lakhpati Didis.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, approval has been granted for 3.86 crore houses, and construction has been completed for 2.92 crore houses.
PM-JANMAN Awas: Approval for 4.71 lakh houses in states and union territories, with 2.42 lakh houses constructed.
DDU-GKY: Over 82,000 rural youth trained and 37,000 provided jobs.
RSETI has empowered rural youth: 59 lakh trained across 625 institutes and 43 lakh provided employment.
Viksit Bharat - Employment and Livelihood Mission (Rural) - VB-GRAM JI Act, 2025, will ensure up to 125 days of employment for rural families.
NSAP allocated ₹9,652 crore for 2025-26, of which ₹5,564 crore released to states and union territories.
District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) organized 1,058 district-level meetings; the DISHA dashboard includes a total of 8 schemes.

During the year 2025, the works of the Department of Rural Development have strengthened infrastructure, livelihoods, housing, employment, skills, and social security, thereby improving the quality of life in rural India.
1. Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)
Launched in December 2000, the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) has achieved remarkable success in connecting nearly all eligible rural habitations and facilitating significant socio-economic transformation.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), the actual achievements under each component from 01.01.2025 to 12.12.2025 are as follows:

1,720 road projects were completed in states and union territories, strengthening national and regional connectivity.
8,693.54 km of roads were constructed, significantly improving access to rural, remote, and economically important areas.
481 bridges were successfully completed, enhancing perennial connectivity and easing travel across rivers and difficult terrains.
During this period, ₹8,548.26 crore was spent on the capital expenditure for the construction of roads and bridges.
Additionally, states/union territories spent ₹811 crore on the maintenance of rural roads, ensuring asset sustainability, improving road transit quality, and extending the service life of existing assets.
With the completion of 536 roads and an addition of 1,736.25 km to the road network, Tamil Nadu emerged as the top-performing state.
Himachal Pradesh completed the highest road length of 1,103.77 km, demonstrating strong performance in mountainous and challenging geographical conditions.
Bihar completed the highest number of 173 bridges, leading to significant improvements in connectivity in flood-prone areas.
Notable progress was also recorded in Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, and Jharkhand.
Targeted infrastructure development was carried out in border, hilly, and northeastern states like Arunachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and Uttarakhand, providing robust support to regional development and strategic connectivity.
Under Phase-IV of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, approval has been granted so far for a total road length of 5,436 km for the states of Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, and Jammu & Kashmir.
Digital Initiatives
- The PMGSY OMMAS portal has been integrated with NESL to facilitate the issuance of Electronic Bank Guarantees (EBG), enhancing transparency and efficiency.
- The 'Delta Report' system has been introduced for monitoring actual and financial targets and achievements road-wise, enabling real-time performance tracking.
- Full digitization of Standard Bidding Documents (SBD) has been completed, facilitating online preparation of tender documents and simplifying and streamlining the procurement process.
