Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj at her residence in New Delhi following her demise.
Expressing deep sorrow, the Prime Minister described Sushma Swaraj as a remarkable leader, outstanding parliamentarian, and dedicated public servant who devoted her life to serving the nation and helping the underprivileged. He highlighted her contributions to strengthening India’s foreign relations and her compassionate approach in assisting Indians in distress across the world.
Modi also praised her tireless commitment as External Affairs Minister, noting that she continued to work diligently despite health challenges. Calling her death a personal loss, he extended condolences to her family, supporters, and admirers, and said she would be remembered for her invaluable service to India.
Former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj passed away in New Delhi on August 6, 2019.
