The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) may function temporarily from Nava Raipur later this month as Chhattisgarh prepares to host the three-day DGP (Director General of Police) conference from November 28 to 30. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, who holds the Home portfolio, confirmed that the event will take place at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Raipur.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are expected to attend the high-level conference, official sources said.
According to sources, the temporary PMO may operate from the official bungalow of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Speaker and former Chief Minister Raman Singh in Nava Raipur during the conference period.
The annual meet will focus on key national security concerns, including internal security, terrorism, drug control, cyber security, border security, the situation in the Northeast, and Naxalism. The discussions are likely to centre on Left-wing extremism in the Bastar region of Chhattisgarh. Mr. Shah has previously stated that Maoism will be eradicated from the country by March 2026.
DGPs of various states, select IGPs, chiefs of Central Para-Military Forces and heads of major security agencies will be participating. The last DGP conference was hosted in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, in 2024.
