Jaipur, March 25, 2026: In a major relief for residents of the Sumerpur विधानसभा क्षेत्र in Pali district, the state government has sanctioned ₹6.88 crore for the repair and renovation of the Endla Dam. Devsthan Minister Joraram Kumawat expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma for approving the long-pending project.
The Endla Dam, constructed in 1974–75, had been awaiting repairs for nearly five decades. Due to its deteriorating condition, local residents faced recurring fears of structural failure during monsoon seasons, posing risks to lives, livestock, homes, and crops.
Following the issue being raised by Kumawat, provisions for the dam’s repair were included in the State Budget 2026–27, and funds have now been officially released.
The dam has a catchment area of 46.62 sq km, while the region records an average annual rainfall of 420.39 mm over the past 31 years. Declining water levels and structural concerns had made restoration critical for irrigation and water security.
According to officials, the Water Resources Department will undertake comprehensive repair work, including:
- Strengthening of the dam and embankments
- Repair of overflow section, wing walls, and sluice gates
- Reclassification and widening of the earthen dam structure
- Stone pitching (rip-rap) and underwater reinforcement
- Removal of silt and vegetation from canal networks
- Restoration of feeder systems and slope alignment
The project is expected to prevent potential disasters, improve water storage capacity, and support irrigation and livestock needs in the region.
