All this has been possible due to the Mahatma Gandhi NREGA scheme, which has emerged as a boon in western Rajasthan like other areas of the state and under this, the development and expansion of water structures in the villages by inculcating self-reliance in the matter of water. It is playing a cooperative role in helping people get rid of many problems.
Whether it is erratic rains or occasional heavy rains, the need to stop the run-off rainwater due to heterogeneous geographical conditions in these situations was felt for a long time. It was completed by MGNREGA and the situation has started changing.
Gaonai Water Conservation Center is making a new identity water conservation activities were adopted on priority under Mahatma Gandhi NREGA scheme in various Panchayat Samitis of Jodhpur district. And this had the effect that with the stagnation of rain water in rural areas, conditions were created for long-term use and traditional reservoirs were recognized as village water conservation centers.
Developed under Mahatma Gandhi NREGA scheme, one of these reservoirs is Pabusar pond of Kolu Pabuji Gram Panchayat under Dechu Panchayat Samiti of Jodhpur district.
The work of making it a model pond was taken up under Mahatma Gandhi NREGA. An amount of Rs 12.44 lakh was spent on this. In this, Rs 12.17 lakh was spent on labor and Rs 0.27 lakh on material head. A total of 7 thousand 736 man days were created on this work.
On the one hand, this work provided the support of livelihood by fulfilling the employment requirement of the needy villagers, on the other hand its beauty has started flourishing after being developed as a model pond.
Today this reservoir of total 1 lakh 12 thousand cubic meter water filling capacity remains a center of utility and attraction. Now water has started to remain in it throughout the year, which is being used for the villagers as well as for the animals and birds. The water level of nearby wells has also started rising.
Dr. Poonamaram, Development Officer of Dechu Panchayat Samiti says that similar water bodies have been developed in the Panchayat Samiti area. This has made the villagers comfortable in the matter of water and along with the expansion of greenery in the rural environment, the villagers have started getting the comfort of prosperity.
Villagers say that MGNREGA has changed the body of this pond. Due to this, people across the region are happy and do not hesitate to express their gratitude to the government, describing MGNREGA as a boon.
Mrs. Chhota Kanwar, Sarpanch of Kolu Pabuji Gram Panchayat says that Pabusar model pond in MGNREGA has developed a good source of water for the nearby villagers as well as animals and birds. This has brought a change in village life.
According to the Village Development Officer Mr. Banwari Lavanian, the groundwater level has increased from the Adarsh pond and its water is being used daily for the villagers. This has made water easily available to all.
