Lodha has achieved a landmark milestone in India’s sustainable development journey by successfully deploying LC3 (Limestone Calcined Clay Cement) concrete in road construction at Palava, marking the first-ever real estate and infrastructure application of LC3 in the country. This breakthrough underscores Lodha’s steadfast commitment to sustainability and its leadership in advancing India’s transition toward a low-carbon future.
Developed through over a decade of research led by Professor Shashank Bishnoi and his team at IIT Delhi under the LC3 Project (launched in 2014), LC3 was officially recognized as an Indian Standard (IS 18189:2023). The innovation reached a major milestone when JK Cement began commercial production of LC3 on 29th August 2025, paving the way for large-scale applications across India.
LC3 cement represents a transformative leap in construction materials, reducing carbon emissions by up to 40% compared to conventional cement, while offering enhanced strength and long-term durability. Lodha’s use of LC3 concrete at Palava marks a historic first for India’s real estate sector, setting the stage for wider adoption in infrastructure and urban development projects nationwide.
