A two-day national workshop on the “Map” program—a geospatial land survey of urban settlements—kicked off at the B.N. Yugandhar Centre for Rural Studies (BNYCRS), LBSNAA, aiming to prepare district collectors across 28 states and 3 Union Territories for nationwide implementation.
The workshop, organized jointly by the Department of Land Resources (DoLR) and LBSNAA, focuses on building administrative, technical, and legal readiness for the program.

A special feature of the workshop is the sharing of state-level experiences. Senior officials from Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Assam, and Madhya Pradesh presented their successful implementation strategies and best practices.
Sessions on administrative and legal frameworks were conducted by N.K. Sudhanshu (DG, YASHDA) and S. Choklingam (CEO, Maharashtra). The workshop concluded with a live ground demonstration by the Survey of India.
The workshop aims to equip district collectors with skills to manage Map program implementation, covering workflow and field verification, GIS and modern survey techniques, data acquisition insights, and discussions on administrative and legal frameworks.
