A video circulating widely on social media has triggered controversy in Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar district, with allegations that a police sub-inspector demanded a bribe of ₹50,000. The clip, which surfaced late Thursday night, shows a heated exchange between a local youth and a uniformed officer in the Kasya police station area.
While the video has gained traction online, authorities have disputed its authenticity, setting up a classic case of allegation versus official denial.
What the Viral Video Shows
In the video, a young man is heard confronting the sub-inspector, saying, “You asked us for ₹50,000.” The officer responds on camera, denying any such demand and stating that he does not want money from the युवक. A few other uniformed personnel are also visible in the frame.
The news agency reporting the incident has clarified that it has not independently verified the authenticity of the video.
Allegations by the Local Resident
The youth, a resident of Nauka Tola in Bahorapur, claims he was transporting soil from his field in Khardeva village to his home for personal use. He says he had valid paperwork permitting the activity.
According to his allegation, the sub-inspector arrived at the site and demanded ₹50,000. When he refused, the officer allegedly threatened to seize the JCB machine being used for the work.
Police Response and Official Stand
Responding to the controversy, Kasya Station House Officer Abhinav Mishra dismissed the claims, calling the viral video fake. Police officials have maintained that no bribe demand was made and that the incident is being misrepresented online.
