
Prof. Najma Akhtar delivers special address at 16th International Metal Ions Symposium in Biology and Medicine at the Nehru Science Museum, Mumbai New Delhi, December 1: Jamia Millia Islamia(JMI) Vice Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar delivered a special address at the 16th International Metal Ions Symposium in Biology and Medicine(Online) which was inaugurated with a message from Hon. Governor of Maharashtra Shri. B S Koshiyari, at the Nehru Science Centre, Worli, Mumbai.
While congratulating the organising team, specially conference chair Dr. Sunali Khanna for the international symposium Prof. Akhtar in her virtual address highlighted the importance of Metal ions in Biology & Medicine with emphasis on Public Health and other areas.She stressed that we need to carry out extensive research on how to control metallic pollution and keep the environment clean and safe for all life forms.
The Vice Chancellor appealed to youths of the nation to come forward and play a decisive role as they are full of energy, and they have to play a longer inning. Also, they have to correct many things which their elders have failed in.She specially appealed to girls to come forward and lead from the front particularly in the medicine and health sector which need more dedication and caring nature.
“I am so happy to share with you all that, Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, Pro Vice Chancellor, and Finance Officer in my university are all women. A number of Deans and Heads are also women who are making Jamia a place of learning every passing day” , said Prof. Akhtar.More than 50 scientific research papers on globally burning themes especially on metal- based toxicology and nanotechnology were presented during the symposium which was attended by the national and international experts.
