The School of Education set up under the scheme of Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT), under the Ministry of Education at the Department of Educational Studies, Faculty of Education, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) conducted Invited Lecture/Colloquium on the topic “Reactivity in Sample Studies as part of Catalysing Academic Research” on November 28, 2024. The lecture was delivered by Prof. Arshad Ikram Ahmad, former Head of the Department of Educational Studies, JMI. The lecture was open for faculty and students of the tertiary sector of education. The lecture was organized to strengthen understanding upon research as envisioned by National Education Policy 2020. It was attended by more than 75 young scholars and faculty members from different Universities and Colleges.
The session was graced by Nodal Officer of School of Education, Prof. Aejaz Masih who extended a warm welcome to the participants. He indicated that numerous new initiatives have been planned and will be implemented in the forthcoming days and months.
Prof. Sara Begum, the Dean of the Faculty with her chair’s remarks graced the occasion and said that the newly recruited faculty have re-energized the activities of the department and it is witnessed every day that several new events takes place which not only benefit the students but also the faculty in enhancing their academic horizon out of the administrative duty.
The Head of the Department of Educational Studies, Prof. Kaushal Kishore said that there is a requirement of many such programmes to implement the vision of National Education Policy. He was overwhelmed to see the initiatives the Department of Educational Studies, JMI is taking in organizing academic programmes throughout the year.
The programme also saw the felicitation of Prof. Anita Rastogi, for her contribution of being founder Nodal Officer of the School of Education and Prof. Arshad Ikram Ahnad who was pioneer in bringing many new initiatives during his tenure of headship of the department and immensely contributed towards School of Education. With such initiatives of the School of Education it was anticipated that the university would achieve newer heights in promoting and strengthening research in education.
Dr. Sajjad Ahmad, Assistant Nodal Officer of School of Education and the coordinator of the programme, took an initiative to organize the event. He also wrote, read and presented the laudatory address (Sapas Nama or Prashasati Patr) in the name of Prof. Arshad Ikram Ahmad. He also briefed about the purpose of such an event and emphasized that it was meticulously planned incorporating different concerns of Research and said that in coming days several new events will take place under the School of Education.
The programme ended with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Sajjad Ahmad.
