To further strengthen the campaign "एक पेड़ माँ के नाम" (Plant for Mother), Jamia Millia Islamia's Horticulture Department organized a one-day Special Plantation Drive on 17th September 2024 (Tuesday). The event was inaugurated by Officiating Vice Chancellor of JMI Prof. Mohammad Shakeel and Officiating Registrar Mr. M. Nasim Haider near the Centre for Coaching & Career Planning and the Faculty of Management Studies of the university.
During the special drive, 500 saplings, consisting of different types of trees and shrubs were planted with the support of the horticulture staff. A number of teaching and non-teaching staff of JMI also participated in the drive.
"एक पेड़ माँ के नाम / Plant4Mother" campaign was launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on World Environment Day, June 5, 2024, which calls for planting trees as a tribute to mothers and to promote environmental conservation across the country.
