A felicitation ceremony was organized by the Department of Economics, Jamia Milla Islmia (JMI) on 14.05.2024 at Conference Hall, Office of the Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, JMI to felicitate and honour the achievers of various competitions organized by the Department. This ceremony was organized to honour the winners of recently organized events by the Department such as annual sports meet (25th April 2024), Ecocracy, the annual academic and cultural fest of the Department (29 April, 2024) and various competitions held under the banner of Earth Day Celebration (22 April, 2024). Medals, momentous and certificates were distributed to the winners. First Rolling Trophy for the winners of Football was also presented in the event.
Prof. Muslim Khan, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, JMI was the Chief Guest in the function. Prof Waseem Ahmad Khan, Director, Sports and Games, JMI graced the occasion as Guest of Honour and Prof. Zahid Khan, Deputy Director, Games and Sports was the special guest in the event. Dr. Vasim Akram, student advisor, Dr. Kashif Khan, course coordinator, B.A. (Hons) Economics, faculty members, Dr. Nadeem, Dr. Shadab and large number of students participated in the function.
Prof. Asheref Illiyan, Head, Department of Economics, JMI highlighted that Department of Economics, JMI encourages not only excellence in studies but also participation in cultural, social and sports activities which aligned with National Education Policy (NEP), 2020. He congratulated the winners of various competitions held and organized by the Department under different banners.
Prof. Muslim Khan, stressed the need for increased participation of students in sports and cultural activities which lead to the all round development of students.
Prof. Waseem Ahmad Khan, Prof. Zahid Khan, Dr. Vasim Akram also addressed the winners and highlighted the significance of sports and cultural activities for the over all personality development, discipline and physical fitness. They urged them to be physically and mentally fit through these activities. It was also stressed that Jamia has one of the best of the art sports facility in Delhi which can be utilized and open to students.
The event was concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Abid Raza Kazmi, General Secretary, Subject Association, Department of Economics, JMI.
