Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik has announced to open 50 new colleges in state. Addressing a press conference in Srinagar yesterday, he said this will be in addition to 50 colleges announced by the state government earlier.
Mr Malik said 50,000 vacancies in various government departments will also be filled in the next few months. The governor urged the youth to come forward and participate actively in this recruitment process as this will be the largest single recruitment drive ever in Jammu & Kashmir or Ladakh. He said the government is working with various central agencies to put together a scheme to provide a minimum support price for the apple crop in the state. The governor said, NAFED is willing to commit over 5,000 crore rupees to procure over 50 percent of apple production of the State. This will benefit over 7 lakh apple farmers.
