Significant irregularities have been uncovered in the stock records of stone crusher units operating in Jaipur district following a drone-based survey conducted by the Department of Mines and Geology. The discrepancies were found between the masonry stone stock recorded in official registers and the actual stock available on-site.
The drone survey was carried out in the Bassi tehsil areas of Hardi, Hardyanpura, Ghata, Kuthada, and Bainada, where multiple stone crusher units are operational. The survey revealed a substantial mismatch in declared and physical stock, prompting further investigation.
Mining Engineer Shyam Chaudhary stated that, acting on the directions of Jaipur District Collector Dr Jitendra Kumar Soni, the department conducted a detailed verification after the drone survey. Following the inquiry, action has been initiated against 12 stone crusher unit operators. A penalty amounting to ₹80.36 lakh has been imposed, and recovery proceedings have commenced.
According to the Department of Mines and Geology, the action has been taken under the state government’s zero-tolerance policy against illegal mining and irregular storage of minerals. The department has reiterated that strict enforcement measures will continue in the future, with greater use of modern technologies such as drone surveys to ensure continuous monitoring and effective action against violations.
