Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav launched the website and logo for the inaugural International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) Summit 2026 in New Delhi, along with a promotional film for the event.
Addressing the gathering, Yadav described the summit as a significant step toward a global platform dedicated to the conservation of big cats. He announced that India will host the first IBCA Summit on June 1, 2026, in New Delhi, with participation expected from Heads of State and Government of member and observer countries.
Highlighting India’s conservation track record, the minister cited initiatives such as Project Tiger and efforts to protect lions, leopards, snow leopards, and cheetahs. He emphasized that India has demonstrated a model where conservation and development can coexist, contributing to ecosystem strength, livelihood improvement, and climate resilience.
A key outcome of the summit will be the adoption of the ‘Delhi Declaration’, the first global declaration on big cat conservation, aimed at strengthening transboundary cooperation and promoting a landscape-based conservation approach.
Senior officials, including Tanmay Kumar from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Sibi George from the Ministry of External Affairs, and IBCA Director General S.P. Yadav, also addressed the event. Heads of Mission from big cat range countries and senior government representatives were present.
