Continuing its endeavor to make women independent & safe riders, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) extends its Digital Road Safety Awareness Training – ‘Honda Road Safety E-Gurukul’ exclusively for females to 7 more cities of North & East India.
Conducted under its unique Dream Riding Initiative, Honda Road Safety E-Gurukul trained over 340 females including working women, housewives, young school & college students, teachers & staff through three 1-hour learning programs across Delhi, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Karnal, Bhubaneswar & Cuttack.
From East (Ranchi, Bhubaneshwar, Cuttack, Muzaffarpur) to West (Gujarat, Nasik, Thane, Pune); from North (Kota, Jaipur, Una, Chandigarh) to South (Coimbatore, Mysore, Vijayawada, Trichy) Honda’s road safety instructors have empowered nearly 8,000 women from 30+ cities across India in just 4 months.
Speaking on this initiative, Mr. Prabhu Nagaraj, Senior Vice President – Brand & Communications, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, “Honda launched its unique female oriented Dream Riding initiative with an aim to bring more women riding two-wheelers. Further keeping up to its commitment, Honda’s digital road safety awareness training exclusively for women is a step towards building confident & safe female riders for future. In the challenging times of COVID-19, we are further committed to digitally train more women on important aspects of safe riding habits.”
Keeping it informative yet engaging, Honda’s road safety instructors utilized Road Safety Learning Programs to enhance the retention of Road Safety awareness. The 1-hour long video session based on a mix of theory, videos & case studies provides an introduction of road safety followed by important topics like:
- Understanding traffic lights & signals (stop, move, left turn, right turn, go straight or slow down).
- Road safety rules, signs & markings (mandatory, cautionary & informative signs; yellow, white or double lines).
- Preventive measures for avoiding road accident injuries (correct driving/riding posture, wearing a seatbelt or helmet and riding gears).
- Road sharing manners (sticking to your lane, use of bicycle tracks & footpaths by bicycle riders & pedestrians).
- Steps to ensure while overtaking, turning or at intersections & round-about.
- Major checks before leaving off to ride/drive and vehicle maintenance tips.
Each session is then followed by a Question & Answer session for resolving queries on various topics.
