Hon’ble President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu has conferred National Service Scheme Award 2020-21 on the MBA student Chukkala PardhaSardi of Lovely Professional University (LPU). The award is bestowed upon LPU students in recognition of his exemplary & commendable social service as an NSS Volunteer. Presently, awardee student is studying at LPU’s Mittal School of Business in Punjab. He has received a medal, certificate & cash award of Rupees One Lakh.
Hon’ble President of India has conferred the National Service Scheme Awards 2020-21 upon the NSS volunteers, units & universities at Rashtrapati Bhawan on the occasion of NSS Day. In all 42 volunteers from across the country have been awarded under three categories.
His various key achievements as an NSS volunteer include organisation and participation in many blood-donation & health camps; awareness programmes on HIV Aids, environment, child labour, gender equity, adult literacy, government schemes; and, needed voluntary activities during disasters.
LPU Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal congratulated the selfless student engaged devotedly in the society needed services. She invoked the winner to continue upkeeping such a spirit throughout his life for the benefit of the society. Hailing from Nellore (Andhra Pradesh), LPU student Chukkala PardhaSardi is extremely happy on receiving the coveted felicitation at Rashtrapati Bhawan through the First Citizen of the Country.
In fact, commenced in 1969, NSS is an extension to the higher education system in India to orient the student youth to community service, while they are studying in educational institutions. It is being implemented by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. It is mainly aimed to understand the community in which they live and work. An NSS volunteer needs to devote a total of 240 hours to social service in two years. Every year, a NSS volunteer has to devote 20 hrs. of orientation and 100 hrs. of community service.
