The Rajasthan Commercial Taxes Department has uncovered tax evasion worth ₹125 crore during a large-scale crackdown on iron, steel and scrap traders across the state, officials said on Wednesday.
Acting on the directions of State Chief Tax Commissioner Kumar Pal Gautam, the department conducted simultaneous raids at 100 establishments. During the operation, around ₹8 crore was recovered on the spot.
Officials said electronic devices, rough slips and suspicious documents were seized from multiple locations and are being examined in detail. The department has also intensified checks on illegal transportation of scrap to curb tax evasion and unlawful trade.
The Commercial Taxes Department said it has detected tax evasion of nearly ₹500 crore in recent days and warned that such enforcement drives will continue across the state.
