Farmer Shrilal Chauhan says that if intentions are honest and the method is right, even the land can yield gold. This belief has been proven true by Shrilal Chauhan, son of Shri Dariyav Singh, a farmer from village Goghatpur in Jirapur development block.
In 2020, Mr. Chauhan decided to move away from traditional chemical farming and adopted natural farming practices on just one acre of land. Wheat, gram, and vegetables were cultivated entirely through natural methods. The results were remarkable — production costs declined, crop quality improved significantly, and the produce fetched premium prices in the market.
This transformation completely changed the direction of his life. Today, Mr. Chauhan’s annual income has increased by nearly 30 percent compared to earlier years. His farm is no longer just a field; it has become a “live training center” for farmers in the region. Farmers from nearby villages regularly visit his farm to closely observe natural farming techniques and are inspired to adopt them in their own fields.
The story of Shrilal Chauhan proves that natural farming is not only beneficial for the environment, but also a boon for the economic empowerment of farmers. His success serves as an inspiring message for farmers across the district — when farmers work in harmony with nature, nature also supports them in return.
