Jaipur, January 22:
Chief Secretary Shri V. Srinivas stated that to ensure better outreach of state government schemes, policies, and programmes to the general public, all departments must adopt evolving modes of publicity and communication. Along with traditional methods, effective use of new social media tools can significantly enhance public outreach.
He was addressing senior officials from various departments at the workshop titled ‘Reform–Perform–Transform and Inform’, held at the Secretariat Conference Hall. He noted that the Department of Information and Public Relations has been consistently adopting innovative approaches to improve communication with citizens. Recent campaigns such as the Army Day Parade coverage, Employment Calendar, and Road Safety videos received millions of views and shares.
The workshop was organised under the directions of the State Government, jointly by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and the State Department of Information and Public Relations.
Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Shri Sanjay Jaju, shared experiences of effective communication and highlighted innovative practices adopted by the Central Government. He emphasised that government communication should be in simple language, convey key information, ensure credibility, and include emotional appeal.
Citing examples such as the GST campaign ‘GST Bachat Utsav’, ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’, ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’, and ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’, Shri Jaju said these campaigns resonated widely because of their simple and relatable messaging. He added that positive news, success stories, and achievements presented concisely with infographics perform well on social media. He also stressed the need to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to curb fake and misleading news on digital platforms.
