The counting of votes for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections is underway, and early trends point to a historic sweep for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Voting for all 243 constituencies was held on November 6 and 11, and counting began at 8 AM today.
The NDA has taken a massive lead on around 200 seats, placing it firmly ahead of the Mahagathbandhan, which is struggling with leads in barely 37 constituencies.
Tejashwi Yadav Trails by Over 4,800 Votes in Raghopur
A major setback for the RJD comes from Raghopur, where Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav is trailing by 4,829 votes after the 11th round. BJP candidate Satish Kumar has secured 44,929 votes so far, while Tejashwi stands at 40,100 votes.
Tejashwi’s elder brother Tej Pratap Yadav is in even deeper trouble, stuck in fourth position from Mahua.
Anant Singh Wins Mokama by 24,000 Votes
In Mokama, strongman Anant Singh has registered a decisive victory by nearly 24,000 votes, defeating Veena Devi, wife of don-turned-politician Surajbhan Singh. Surajbhan recently switched to the RJD, after which the party fielded his wife from the seat.
BJP Announces Victory Celebrations at 5 PM in Patna
With the party emerging as the single largest force in Bihar for the first time, BJP workers have already begun celebrations. The Patna BJP office has announced a victory event at 5 PM, as the NDA continues to dominate trends.
Mathili Thakur Nearing Win in Alinagar
In Darbhanga’s Alinagar seat, BJP candidate and singer Maithili Thakur is close to victory. She expressed gratitude by singing for her supporters and said her “innings has just begun.”
RJD Leads in Vote Share, But Trails in Seats
A surprising trend shows the RJD leading in vote share, despite trailing heavily in seat count:
RJD: 22.77%
BJP: 20.92%
JD(U): 18.96%
However, the concentration of votes has not translated into seats for the party.
