Bank of Baroda (Bank), one of India's leading public sector banks, has joined hands with Prayagraj Municipal Corporation (PMC) as the "Sustainability Development Partner" of the civic body for a period of three years. This collaboration is in line with the Bank's "BOB Earth" programme and supports PMC's ongoing efforts to promote sustainable urban development in the city of Prayagraj through key initiatives, including advanced waste management and conservation projects.
Under the partnership, Bank of Baroda will support the PMC's semi-solid waste management initiatives. The partnership will see the deployment of state-of-the-art machines at a semi-solid waste management site at Baswar Plant that will collect and treat semi-solid waste material generated from various sources using specialised treatment methods to minimise the environmental impact. The treated waste will be used in composting, which helps in preventing soil erosion, promoting healthier plant growth, conservation of water, reducing waste, improving soil health, wetland reclamation and combating climate change.
Additionally, Bank of Baroda has also collaborated with Prayagraj Municipal Corporation as the "Green Partner" for the landmark Daak Ghar Chauraha installation located near the Post Office at Civil Lines in Prayagraj. Serving as a tribute to postal workers, the waste-to-wonder 10 foot high statue of a postman is made entirely of sustainable materials.
Shri Lal Singh, Executive Director, Bank of Baroda said, "Bank of Baroda is the lead bank and convenor of State Level Bankers' Committee (SLBC), Uttar Pradesh and we are pleased to partner with Prayagraj Municipal Corporation on this important initiative. Sustainability is a key pillar of Bank of Baroda's ethos. The Bank's "BOB Earth" programme exemplifies our unwavering commitment to promoting eco-friendly solutions and fostering positive change for future generations. Partnerships such as the one with Prayagraj Municipal Corporation give us an opportunity to work with local authorities, contribute meaningfully to environmental conservation and can make a big impact on local sustainability efforts."
Under its "BOB Earth" programme, Bank of Baroda has launched a number of green initiatives to reaffirm its commitment to protecting Planet Earth and promoting sustainability through impactful projects.
As the governing civic body responsible for managing the infrastructure and administration of Prayagraj, PMC has been playing a pivotal role in sustainable development of Prayagraj city and has undertaken a number of environment-friendly initiatives such as energy-efficient buildings, green spaces, sustainable water management systems, and integrated waste management solutions.
