Under the Rani Durgavati Shree Anna Promotion Scheme, the Madhya Pradesh government has, for the first time, procured kodo and kutki at Minimum Support Price (MSP) in 16 districts across the state. The last date for MSP procurement of kodo–kutki was January 31.
In this initiative, Balaghat district emerged as the top-performing district in the Jabalpur division, procuring 2,082 quintals of kodo, the highest among the division’s seven districts. Overall, a total of 2,098.50 quintals of kodo–kutki were procured at MSP in the district.
Deputy Director of Agriculture Shri Phoolsingh Malviya informed that 783 farmers registered on the e-Uparjan portal to sell kodo and 34 farmers registered for kutki at MSP in Balaghat district. Out of these, 211 farmers sold 2,082 quintals of kodo under MSP. No other district in the Jabalpur division recorded such a high volume of kodo procurement. Dindori district ranked second with 199 quintals, followed by Katni with 146 quintals, securing third place.
Shri Malviya further stated that the procurement of 2,082 quintals of kodo from 211 farmers amounted to ₹52,04,947. After loan recoveries, ₹50,24,747 has already been paid to farmers. Additionally, 6 farmers sold 16 quintals and 50 kilograms of kutki at MSP, valued at ₹5,57,743. The procurement of kodo–kutki at MSP was carried out by Birsa Crop Producer Company Limited.
Incentive of ₹1,000 per Quintal
For the Kharif 2025 season, Shree Anna produce was procured at the following MSP rates:
Kutki: ₹3,500 per quintal
Kodo: ₹2,500 per quintal
In addition, farmers will receive an incentive of ₹1,000 per quintal through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into their bank accounts. Accordingly, farmers in Balaghat district who sold kodo–kutki will receive an additional incentive amount of ₹20,98,500.
This initiative marks a significant step in promoting Shree Anna (millets) cultivation and ensuring better income support for farmers in the region.
