The Union Minister for Home Affairs and Cooperation, Amit Shah, laid the foundation stone for the 10th Battalion Headquarters of the Assam Police in Kamrup, Assam, and addressed a public gathering.
The event was attended by Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, along with senior officials including the Union Home Secretary.

Assam to Become Industrial Hub
Shah stated that under the leadership of Narendra Modi, Assam has witnessed rapid development and will emerge as the industrial hub of eastern and northeastern India within the next five years.
Land Reclaimed from Encroachers
Approximately 174 bighas of land allegedly encroached upon during the previous regime were reclaimed.
The foundation ceremony was held on this reclaimed land.
Shah credited the current Assam government for freeing around 1.45 lakh bighas of land from encroachment.
He alleged that unchecked infiltration during the previous government led to demographic imbalance in several districts, including:
Dhubri
Barpeta
Morigaon
Darrang
Bongaigaon
Nagaon
Infrastructure Details of 10th Battalion HQ
The upcoming headquarters will span 124 bighas and include:
Barracks for 750 male and 450 female personnel
Residential and operational infrastructure
A small hospital
Training centre
Firing range
Modern surveillance centre
A large sports complex for Assam Police
Shah stated that a location once posing security concerns will now house a major security installation.
On Infiltration and Governance
The Home Minister emphasized:
The government’s commitment to making Assam and India infiltration-free.
That infiltration, violence, and unemployment must be eliminated for sustained development.
Strong action against illegal infiltration would continue with state support.
He further asserted that only the current ruling party can ensure a “violence-free, infiltration-free, unemployment-free and development-oriented Assam.”
