Jaipur, 29 October – Union Minister for Forest and Environment, Bhupender Yadav, said that the Alwar parliamentary constituency is undergoing coordinated efforts by both state and central governments for its all-round development and improved cleanliness. He was speaking at the oath-taking ceremony of the new executive committee of the Kedalgunj Trading Operations Committee at the newly established agricultural produce market yard in Alwar.
Minister Yadav, along with Rajasthan Forest Minister (Independent Charge) Sanjay Sharma, administered the oath to the members of the committee. In his address the minister congratulated the new office-bearers and urged them to work in unity for the upgradation and development of the mandi. He added that all demands raised by the committee would be followed up and positive steps will be taken to realise them.
Highlighting youth focus, he said that under the e-Gurukool initiative, 108 e-libraries have been set up in government schools across the district, and that the “Alwar MP Sports Festival” has been launched, in which thousands of youths are participating. He noted that last year’s festival saw over 13,000 participants, and the current edition (starting 29 October) expects over 50,000 participants.
On cleanliness, Minister Yadav said meaningful steps are being taken to make Alwar a clean city. He noted that Alwar ranked 54th nationally in the cleanliness survey and reported that efforts are underway to bring the city into the top 10 of the nationwide rankings. He announced that an Integrated Waste Management Plant will be set up in Alwar to ensure proper disposal of garbage. He also stressed the city’s vast tourism potential, highlighting the upcoming international tiger marathon scheduled for 8 February, which will bring visitors from across India and abroad — for which a clean Alwar is essential.
The minister pointed out that single-use plastic is the country’s biggest environmental challenge, and urged everyone to join the “Atulya Alwar” and “Swachh Alwar” campaigns to make the mandi complex and the city plastic-free. He added that the central government’s policy on single-use plastic aims at replacing it permanently with biodegradable alternatives.
Turning to ease of business, Yadav said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for “Ease of Doing Business” has simplified trade — citing the introduction of GST, removal of interstate checkposts, and elimination of multiple indirect taxes. He noted that the upcoming GST 2.0 with fewer slabs has boosted shopping ahead of Diwali.
Forest Minister Sharma, while congratulating the new committee, said that under Yadav’s leadership the Alwar constituency is witnessing sustained all-round development. He pointed out that a ₹120 crore plan for upgrading Alwar railway station has been approved, and train stoppages have been arranged at various district stations and travel amenities expanded. He further noted that the two recent state budgets under Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma have provided special grants to Alwar: including a drinking-water scheme for the city, a biological park, science park, upgraded children’s ward in the hospital, up-gradation of the PHC at Shivaji Park to CHC status, inclusion of the Moongaska PHC under a central scheme, a new women’s college, a polytechnic college, and a Deputy SP office. He also said that following Yadav’s intervention the city has been granted 100 new borewells to permanently relieve its drinking-water problem. He added that efforts are on to make Alwar crime-free and cleaner. He noted that Alwar ranked 54th in cleanliness survey and 3rd in the air-quality survey nationally — and affirmed that the goal is to bring Alwar into the top-10 cleanest cities in India.
