The Additional Chief Secretary of Tribal Area Development, Mr. Kunjilal Meena, held a meeting with officials of concerned departments on Monday regarding the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as set by NITI Aayog.
During the meeting held at Ambedkar Bhawan, a detailed discussion was conducted on the progress of Rajasthan in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals.
Mr. Meena provided necessary instructions to improve various indicators related to SDG Group 5, particularly Goals 5 and 10, such as skewed child sex ratio, domestic violence, atrocities against Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, etc., to ensure that Rajasthan shows improvement at the state level and ascends higher positions in the national Sustainable Development Goal rankings.
The Additional Chief Secretary directed the concerned departments to take necessary steps to improve the performance on these indicators. He also instructed them to align their plans and strategies in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals, regularly review them, and study the best practices of other states to enhance their performance on related indicators.
Mr. Meena emphasized that societal traditions need to be changed to strengthen the status of women in society. Efforts should be made to promote women's participation in rituals like Pagdi, Kanyadaan, Bindori, etc. This initiative should be implemented at the district collector level, block level, and Anganwadi worker level.
He instructed officials from the Industries Department to prioritize women for high-level positions such as Director, Manager, etc., in companies to reduce the level of inequality. Letters should be sent to SLBC, CII, FICCI, etc., regarding this. He also directed the Health Department to focus on modern matters concerning women to eliminate gender inequality. Additionally, telecom companies should be approached to collect data on the number of men and women who own mobile phones.
Mr. Meena instructed officials to share five innovative measures each that could lead to the desired improvements in Goals 5 and 10 of Group 5.
