Raipur, February 10, 2026 — In a landmark event symbolizing social harmony and inclusive governance, 6,412 couples were married under the Chief Minister Kanya Vivah Yojana in the presence of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. The state-level mass wedding ceremony held at Science College Ground, Raipur, witnessed 1,316 couples receiving blessings in person, while others joined virtually from across the state. Each newlywed couple received financial assistance of ₹35,000. The historic event has been recorded in the Golden Book of World Records.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Sai said the scheme has transformed the marriage of daughters from a financial burden into a moment of dignity and trust for poor families. The ceremony brought together couples from Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, and Baiga tribal communities, reflecting Chhattisgarh’s cultural diversity and social unity.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister also launched the “Malnutrition-Free Chhattisgarh” campaign, initially rolled out in eight districts of Surguja and Bastar divisions. He emphasized that along with government efforts, public participation will be key to building a healthy and nourished state, with plans to expand the campaign statewide after the pilot phase.
