Raigarh Excise Department seized 20 litres of illegal mahua liquor during separate raids conducted in Raigarh district as part of an ongoing crackdown against illicit liquor trade.
During a raid conducted on May 17 in Gerwani village under the Poonjipathra police station area, the excise team recovered nearly 10 litres of illegal mahua liquor from the possession of accused Shambhu Agariya. Officials seized the liquor on the spot and registered a case under the Excise Act.
In another operation carried out on May 18 in Sahaspuri village under the Kotraroad police station limits, officials recovered an additional 10 litres of illegal mahua liquor from accused Dushyant Sidar. The accused was arrested and booked under relevant provisions of the Excise Act.
Both accused were later produced before the court and subsequently sent to jail.
District authorities said the campaign against illegal liquor manufacturing, transportation, and sale will continue across the district. The administration also appealed to citizens to immediately report any information related to illegal liquor activities to the administration or excise department for prompt action.
