New Delhi: The Ministry of Civil Aviation has stated that more than 1,200 flights operated by Indian carriers and nearly 3,880 flights operated by foreign airlines have been cancelled so far due to the evolving airspace situation in parts of West Asia.
In an official statement, the Ministry said it is closely monitoring developments and coordinating with airlines to minimise passenger inconvenience. Special arrangements are being made to facilitate the movement of stranded travellers, while additional capacity is being deployed where required.
58 Flights Planned Today
According to the Ministry, Indian carriers are planning to operate 58 flights today. This includes 30 flights by IndiGo and 23 flights by Air India and Air India Express.
The Ministry noted that airlines have undertaken calibrated schedule adjustments. Long-haul and ultra-long-haul services are being progressively resumed through alternative routings that avoid restricted airspace in the affected region.
Airfare Monitoring and Passenger Advisory
The Ministry further said it is in continuous contact with airlines and is closely monitoring airfares to prevent any undue surge in ticket prices during this period of disruption.
All airlines have been advised to:
Maintain transparent communication with passengers
Ensure compliance with regulatory norms on refunds and rescheduling
Provide necessary assistance to affected travellers
Passengers have been urged to check flight status directly with their respective airlines before heading to airports and to rely only on official sources for updates.
The situation remains dynamic as geopolitical tensions in West Asia continue to impact international air routes.
