A free masks and sanitizer distribution program started today at the Faculty of Dentistry, Jamia Millia Islamia(JMI) as part of the ongoing “Corona Prevention Campaign” run by the Faculty under the aegis of the University Grants Commission (UGC) to create awareness about the pandemic.Dr. Nazim Husain Al-Jafri, Registrar and Controller of Examinations, JMI distributed hand sanitizers and face masks to the patients reporting for treatment at the reception area of the Faculty. Prof Sanjay Singh, Dean, Faculty of Dentistry, along with the Incharges of all the departments, the staff members and interns working at the reception and the general OPD were present during the program.
Addressing the gathering Dr. Nazim Husain Al-Jafri appreciated the sheer determination and courage of all doctors and staff who have been working relentlessly in these extraordinary challenging times. He encouraged the patients to read and follow the instructions and notices being displayed at the faculty and sensitized them to maintain social distancing, hand hygiene and wear masks.Prof Sanjay Singh also shared his views on the present scenario of the pandemic and the various Covid protocols being adopted by all the health care professionals working in the faculty.
He further announced that the Faculty will continue to organize more of such free mask-sanitizer distribution and Covid-sensitization campaigns not just in the University but outside in the community as well. This was followed by a brief visit to all the clinics and the departments, where Dr. Nazim Husain Al-Jafri acknowledged the commendable precautions being taken by all the faculty, staff and Interns for Covid-19 prevention.
Earlier, under UGC’s year-long campaign on Covid-19 Vaccine roll out, the Faculty has already displayed multiple posters for encouraging people to follow the protocols for Covid-19 prevention as well as to come forward for the India’s Covid-19 Vaccination drive. The faculty has already organized an online lecture on “Covid-19 vaccines-an update” on 3rd February 2021 to sensitize the entire University staff regarding Covid-19 vaccination.
