The ecosystem of digital agriculture Mandis in the Rajasthan continued to expand even though the lockdown. Between April 25, 2020 to June 30, 2020 the new 119 eNAM Mandis received 2205 farmer registration and 2989 trader registration, and a total quantity of 2885.3 ton was traded from these online mandis. It was in addition to the existing 25 eNAM mandis also continued to add on the progress, in the current fiscal year there were new registration of 97 farmers and 50 traders and CA, more than 179420 metric tons of farm produce was traded through these.
The persistent efforts of the state government to bring farmers on the online platform yielded returns by assisting farmers in getting good returns for their produce even as the COVID pandemic had obstructed routine trade procedures across country and world. The state government in direction to ensure better returns for the farm produce has been promoting transparent and fair trade practices through online procedure. The government has already decided on the conversion of the trade license of buyers in a unified license that allows them to e-trade the agricultural commodity in any e-mandi of the state. Initially, 25 new mandis were introduced and 119 more were added to it later. Chief minister Ashok Gehlot recently approved for a pilot project for the smooth operation of eNAM at 10 manids. Rajasthan Government has also initiated two promotional schemes named e-payment promotional scheme and Savitri Bai Fule Mahila Krishk Sashaktikaran for promoting, motivating, and benefiting the farmers. Also, it’s the first state in the country, which has integrated 144 APMCs with eNAM.
The state government is working on integrated infrastructure from the procurement, deployment to payment in the account. Since inception 25 mandis on eNAM of Rajasthan, traded 1935672 Metric Ton, the value of 6990 cr by online marketing of agricultural. Since the inception, Digital agriculture Mandis got farmer and Trader & CA registration 1306265 and 16966 where around 68 commodities are being traded across the state. After the launch of the scheme, Rajasthan Government working towards farmer’s welfare from getting farmers 80026 registration in 2016-17 to 113426 till 2019-20.
Kunji Lal Meena, Principal Secretary To Government, Agriculture & Horticulture Department, Rajasthan Said, “The state government is committed for the betterment of farmers, the progress of eNAM and other e-payment, and other technological advancements are part of chief minister Ashok Gehlot’s vision to put advantage of technology for farmer welfare. The efforts have also resulted in a rise in technology literacy among farmers and many of them are now using mobile phones as a trading tool.”
Rajasthan is also moving to the next level by establishing assaying labs where oil testing machine, moisture meter, and AI based technology. Also, very soon famers will be able to avail the facilities like cleaning, sorting, grading & packaging for across mandis in the state.
