Further to the recent meeting of the stakeholders on the regulation of online gaming, we at Zupee would like to welcome this move by the central ministry. Skill based online gaming is a sunrise sector and it needs positive legislative support to facilitate smooth operations within the legal & operational framework. We need a progressive policy framework that is central and ubiquitous, preferably under a relevant ministry like the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology. This would ensure growth in the sector and would create employment in the next few years. Furthermore, the Government’s success on rapidly connecting people is admirable, and it is due to this that India is dominating an emerging digital technology domain, which is online gaming which is creating a nearly 5 billion dollar opportunity by 2025.
