the day of Phase-I voting in the 2025 Bihar Legislative Assembly election — Narendra Modi reached Bhagalpur and addressed a public rally at the Airport Field around 1:30 pm. Accompanied by senior BJP leaders such as Giriraj Singh and Ashwini Choubey, PM Modi sought the public’s blessing for the NDA’s victory in Bihar.
He began by linking Bhagalpur to the sacred Ganga river, saying it is one of only two places where the Ganga flows northwards (the other being Varanasi) and called Bhagalpur a land of struggle and dignity.
PM Modi criticized the opposition under the banner of the Mahagathbandhan (RJD-Congress) for what he described as years of “jungle raj”, lawlessness, zero development and mass migration of youth. He claimed the NDA government had credited ₹10,000 into the accounts of over 1.4 crore women under its scheme — and argued if the earlier RJD-Congress rule had continued, the money would have gone into their own bank accounts instead.

Targeting internal divisions in the opposition, he said that while many RJD posters exist in the state, you will hardly find Congress leaders’ photographs on them. He accused the RJD of forcing the Congress to accept their nominee by “holding a gun to their temple”.
He appealed to voters: “With your vote you must give RJD and Congress their permanent cure.”
Incidents during the rally: A young man showing a protest poster reading “Why is the Dalit being oppressed?” was taken into custody by the police on the instructions of the SDM. Over two dozen leaders joined PM Modi on stage — including the Mayor, former Union Minister Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, Ashwini Choubey, MP Ajay Kumar Mandal, and others — to meet with the Prime Minister and present their grievances. Following the rally, PM Modi departed for Purnia at around 2:23 pm. Security at the event was heightened: magistrates were posted on roofs of nearby buildings, medical teams were placed on alert, and full rehearsals were conducted by local administration.
