Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Angela Merkel will co-chair the 5th Inter Governmental Consultations (IGC) in New Delhi today. The two leaders will also hold talks and discuss a host of bilateral issues including economic partnership, trade, investment and agriculture.
Entire gamut of bilateral issues including science, education, technology, people to people contact and cultural exchanges will also be discussed. Two countries are likely to sign around 20 agreements. German Chancellor arrived in New Delhi last night on a three-day visit to India. The German Chancellor is accompanied by several Ministers and State Secretaries of the Federal Government, as well as a high-powered business delegation.
Minister of State in Prime Minister’s Office Jitendra Singh received her at the airport. She was accorded a ceremonial reception at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan this morning. She paid tributes to Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.
Dr Merkel will also call on President Ram Nath Kovind in the evening. Tomorrow, the German leader will meet a business delegation and visit an automobile company at Manesar, Gurgaon. Before heading home, the chancellor will visit the Dwarka Sector 21 Metro Station.
