Veteran film producer and former Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) Chairperson Pahlaj Nihalani passed away at the age of 76. He had reportedly been battling liver-related health complications and had been unwell for some time.
Nihalani served as the CBFC Chairperson from 2015 to 2017. His tenure was marked by several high-profile debates over film certification and censorship, making him one of the most discussed figures in the Indian film industry during that period.
Apart from his role at the CBFC, Nihalani was a prominent film producer who contributed to Hindi cinema for several decades, producing a number of successful commercial films across genres.
He is survived by his wife, Nita Nihalani, and their three sons, Vishal, Deepesh, and Chirag.
