Indu Sarkar, the acclaimed period political thriller directed by Madhur Bhandarkar, has now become a part of the archive collection of National Film Archive of India (NFAI).
On July 19, filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar personally handed over the digital copy of the film to Prakash Magdum during his visit to NFAI for archival preservation.
Based on true events, Indu Sarkar is set during the Emergency period from 1975 to 1977. The film stars Kirti Kulhari, Tota Roy Chowdhury, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Supriya Vinod, Rashmi Jha and Anupam Kher in pivotal roles.
Madhur Bhandarkar made his directorial debut with Trishakti and went on to helm several critically acclaimed and commercially successful films. Known for portraying the hidden realities of society and the glamour industry, Bhandarkar received the National Film Award for Best Film on Social Issues for Chandni Bar. He also earned National Film Awards for Best Feature Film and Best Director for Page 3 and Traffic Signal respectively.
