The UGC-Human Resource Development Centre (UGC-HRDC), Jamia Millia Islamia(JMI), yesterday started its 5th Online Faculty Induction Programme(FIP) for newly appointed faculty who joined the online course across the country.Prof. Najma Akhtar, Vice Chancellor, JMI was the Chief Guest and Prof. Aejaz Masih, Dean Faculty of Education,JMI was the Guest of Honor of the inaugural function. The session started with a welcome address by Prof. Anisur Rahman, Director, UGC- HRDC, JMI. He presented a brief outline about the GURUDAKHSHITA guidelines of UGC.
He also briefly discussed the history of JMI including HRDC contributions.Prof. Najma Akhtar in her inaugural address underlined the significance of the FIP that provides a wonderful opportunity to teachers to learn new techniques of teaching and implement it effectively to bring a lot of change in society by producing worthy minds who can take the nation forward. She also explained the relevance of capacity building which brings positive outcomes for a teacher and the importance of research in teaching. She hoped that the participants will get profound academic input and exposure in the FIP that will be useful for their future growth and societal change.
Prof. Aejaz Masih in his address focussed upon traditional, conventional, transformative as well as more innovative pedagogies which is the need of the hour. He also emphasized that the National Education Policy 2020 should sync with the on-going education system which is more west oriented at present. He also emphasized the need for creation of ‘Indian Education Services (IES)’through which Indian Education can be improved and do away with the isolation that our education is provided at the moment.The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Shahla Tarannum of UGC-HRDC, JMI.
