JMI organises two-week Refresher Course in Teacher Education
A two-week Refresher Course in Teacher Education ‘Learning Outcomes and Educational Reform- Pedagogy, Assessment and Quality Assurance’ jointly conducted by the UGC-Human Resource Development Centre (UGC-HRDC), Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) and Faculty of Education of the university concluded today. It was the 3rd refresher course (2nd in online mode) organised by them. The Refresher Course was started on 4th January, 2022 for training and skill building of more than 35 teacher educators from different Universities and Colleges across India. The theme of the course was Challenges of Policy Implementation in Teacher Education.
Prof. Neelima Gupta, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Hari Singh Gaur University, Sagar was the Chief Guest of the valedictory session which was presided over by the Pro-Vice Chancellor, JMI, Prof. Tasneem Fatma. Concluding remarks were given by Prof. Aejaz Masih, Dean, Faculty of Education, JMI. Prof. Anisur Rahman, Director, UGC-HRDC, JMI welcomed the Chief Guest and other dignitaries.Dr. Sajjad Ahmad, Assistant Professor and the Course Coordinator, Department of Educational Studies introduced the Chief Guest. In her valedictory address Prof. Neelima Gupta, emphasized the importance of constant endeavour of learning, de-learning and re-learning by the higher education faculty for the realisation of the NEP 2020.
She focused upon the practicality of NEP 2020 and underlined the significance of the Refresher Course. She said that implementation of NEP 2020 is the responsibility of the entire teachers’ fraternity which will collectively make it success. In his concluding remarks, Prof. Aejaz Masih focused upon traditional, conventional, more transformative and more innovative pedagogies which are need of the hour. He concluded that restructuring of the teacher education curriculum must be in sync with ‘lokvidya’ and should do away with the western oriented learning.
The course coordinator Dr. Sajjad Ahmad gave an overview of the programme and explained how participants were engaged rigorously in several exercises such as presenting Learning Outcome of the sessions, writing and presenting Seminar Paper, writing Research Proposal and giving the test examination during the refresher course. Dr. Ansar Ahmad, Assistant Professor and another course coordinator, Department of Teacher Training & NFE (IASE), Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi presented vote of thanks.
