The UG Placement Cell, Department of Economics, Jamia Millia Islamia(JMI) organised a webinar in association with the Fin Lit Project on 23rd October, 2021. Ms Neha Misra, CEO of Fin Lit project and and alumnus of IIT Madras, was the key speaker of the session. The objective of the webinar was to make students aware about investing in financial markets, specifically in mutual funds. The session started with welcome address by Nausheen Kamal, student placement coordinator, followed by the speaker’s introduction to the topic and common issues.
Many topics, including ‘what is a mutual fund?’, ‘Structure of mutual fund’, ‘What is AMC?’, ‘working of mutual funds’, ‘risk-o meter’ etc were covered insightfully by the speaker.It was followed by a Q&A session in which student attendees asked various questions related to this topic to the speaker. The session certainly, provided students with a clear insight into stocks and market investments.Members of the Fin Lit project, students of Department of Commerce, Department of Economics, and some students of other departments of JMI participated in the webinar enthusiastically.
The Fin Lit project is a financial literacy and incubation start-up founded by Neha Misra, an alumnus of IIT Madras, a fellow of Long Term Stock Exchange, New York and a NISM registered investment advisor. The project was founded in August 2020 and is currently being incubated at IIIT Delhi incubation centre and Software Technology Park of India, Chennai. The organization runs financial literacy apps providing courses at beginner and intermediate levels.Prof. Halima Sadia Rizvi, Head, Department of Economics and Prof. Asheref Illiyan, Teacher placement coordinator encouraged the students and extended all sort of assistance in the smooth origination of the webinar.
