The connectivity revolution is here. For the first time in human history, technology has reached a stage where it can solve the most pressing and complex human challenges facing mankind today, such as climate change, poverty and social-inequalities. At the same time however, the challenges of new age technology must be dealt with.
Keeping with the needs of the times, India’s first book on new age technologies and its intersection with society was launched by the Hon’ble Vice President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, which explores and brings to light the challenges and opportunities presented by emerging and connected tech. Titled “New-Age Technology and Industrial Revolution 4.0 | Global Public Policy Issues in Economy, Democracy, National Security and World Peace”, the book has been authored by Dr. Narendra Jadhav, MP Rajya Sabha and published by Konark Publishers. The Dialogue, a Delhi based think-tank working on the intersection of technology, society and public-policy, co-hosted the launch event along with Konark Publishers, at Sardar Patel Conference Hall, Vice President’s House, New Delhi.
The launch witnessed participation of thought leaders from various walks of life.
The book analyses the intersection of technology with society and explores the policy response towards enabling a balancing act between the opportunities and challenges posed by the fourth industrial revolution. As global societies are becoming more and more connected, it is imperative to evaluate the relationship between man and machine, which will be the driving force of the 21st century.
The book is also a primer on technology policy for India as the nation embraces technology for growth and development, while at the same time, it will provide policymakers a much-needed roadmap to drive the nation’s digital growth in the coming years.
Hon’ble Vice President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu stated the following:
“This book examines & elaborates on various dimensions of the so-called Industrial Revolution 4.0. It discusses the emerging New-Age Technology, brings out the opportunities and threats, makes an attempt to identify and analyze relevant public policy issues in the global context. This book is of great contemporary relevance. One needs to yearn, learn, earn and return the knowledge of such emerging new-age technologies.”
Dr. Narendra Jadhav said the following in his remarks:
