India, 11 August 2026: Flipkart, India’s homegrown e-commerce marketplace, today highlighted its growing presence in Tamil Nadu, where a strong manufacturing ecosystem, deep technology talent and growing digital adoption are creating new opportunities for businesses and entrepreneurs. From technology infrastructure in Chennai to its growing network of sellers, supply-chain operations and programmes across the state’s production clusters, Flipkart is helping connect Tamil Nadu’s businesses with customers across India.
Tamil Nadu’s strong manufacturing baseis reflected in Flipkart’s growing seller ecosystem, with nearly 70,000 sellers from the state using the platform to reach customers across India. From the knitwear clusters of Tiruppur and textile hubs of Erode and Salem to Kancheepuram’s silk weavers and Thanjavur’s artisan communities, businesses are using digital commerce to take products rooted in Tamil Nadu’s local strengths to a national market. Flipkart’s dedicated seller growth teams in Tiruppur, Erode, Salem and Chennai support businesses with onboarding, cataloguing, logistics integration and capability building.
This growing digital commerce ecosystemis also contributing to livelihoods across the state, with more than 1.3 lakh direct and indirect jobs supported across Tamil Nadu. Flipkart’s supply-chain footprint has grown to more than 25 lakh sq. ft., helping businesses reach customers faster while strengthening the infrastructure that supports digital commerce across the state.
Tamil Nadu is also an important technology hub for Flipkart Group. Its Chennai data centre is one of the Group’s largest technology infrastructure investments in India, supporting critical group-level operations, with a significant share of its power sourced from renewable energy. Tamil Nadu’s deeptechnology talent and renewable energy ecosystem provide a strong foundation for Flipkart to further scale its technology operations in the state.
The state’s digital commerce ecosystem is expanding beyond traditional e-commerce. Flipkart Minutes has grown rapidly in Tamil Nadu, with more than 90 micro-fulfilment centres across the state. More than 1,000 electric two-wheelers, representing around a quarter of the delivery fleet, are deployed across Tamil Nadu, combining the growth of digital commerce with the state’s focus on electric mobility and cleaner transportation.

Through our Samarth initiative, Flipkart is working to expand national market access for Tamil Nadu’s MSMEs, artisans and handicraft producers. The programme is also working with TN-RISE to create market-access opportunities for women entrepreneurs, startups and Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) in the state.
Flipkart’s engagement with Tamil Nadu’s producer communities also extends to agriculture. Through Samarth Krishi, Flipkart sources fresh produce from FPOs in the state, helping connect farmer collectives with organised demand and wider markets.
