India, 23 December 2021:National Farmers Day is celebrated every year on 23rd December to commemorate the birth anniversary of the 5th Prime Minister of India, Chaudhary Charan Singh, acknowledging and honouring the farmers’ silent but relentless contributions to the country’s upliftment. The Central and State governments are working on several projects to reward progressive farmers in various parts of the country. Over the past decade, ‘DeHaat’ has been collaborating with the Annadata to help themgrow and progress through technology, andto also bring to the forefront the efforts of the farmers whose work puts food on an entire nation’s plate. Shashank Kumar, CEO and co-founder of ‘DeHaat,’ expressed his gratitude to farmers for performing a tremendous job in the field of agriculture through technology on Farmer’s Day, and thanked farmers and the associated service centre operators.
Shashank adds, “Farmers are the most important pillars of strength, upon which a successful nation is built. There are more than 14 crore farmers in our country and 68% of the country’s population is, directly or indirectly, engaged in agriculture or agro-based work. The share of agriculture in the Indian economy is more than 15%. Despite this, the system is full of many inefficiencies and flaws which restrict the growth of farmers. In these circumstances, ‘DeHaat’ was started to bring a revolution of change. We aim to provide all possible support to farmers in their journey from ‘Seeds to Market’ to ease their lifestyle through technology. Farmers engaged with DeHaat have noted an increase of 15 to 20 percent in their crop yield. In the future, we hope to use technology to make a positive difference in the lives of the majority of the country’s farmers. We wholeheartedly salute the efforts of all these unsung champions of the country and wish them a very happy KisanDiwas.”
‘DeHaat’ is a technology-based platform working for farmers that provides full-stack agriculture services. DeHaat has been instrumental in bridging the gap between the farmer and the use of state-of-the-art technologies in India.
