DCM Shriram Ltd’s Agri-Skilling CSR Program- Jeetega Kisaan, is working with farmers in Kota towards adoption of advanced agricultural techniques and package of practices, with an objective to increase farmers’ productivity and profitability.
Under the program 900 farmers across three clusters of Baniyani, Jodhpura and Mandaliya are being provided relevant training on Integrated farming systems through Demo plots and exposure visits by our partner team ISAP (Indian Society of Agribusiness professionals)
Across the three clusters which covers 18 villages in Kota, an area of 800 acre was under paddy this kharif season. To wean farmers away from Stubble burning we promoted Decomposer Spray method. The Decomposer spray decomposes crop residue by accelerating the decomposition process. These agents act on the straw to make it soft and ploughable, break down its molecular components and release the nutrients into the field.
We have created 20 Demo plots and 50 farmers were demonstrated per demo plots hence sensitizing 1000 farmers on Decomposer Spray procedure this season as an option to stubble burning. Post the sensitization we have seen a positive response from the farmers of taking up the Decomposer Spray Method.
Apart from reducing air pollution, this initiative will help the farmers increase the organic carbon content of the soil that is at present seriously depleted. Organic Carbon content in soil helps in nutrient absorption and in retaining soil moisture.
