The Chhattisgarh government has granted revised administrative approval of ₹376.04 lakh for the beautification and tourism development of the Maniyari (Khudiya) Reservoir in Lormi block of Mungeli district.
The approval has been issued based on the Chief Engineer’s proposal and concurrence from the Finance Department, marking a major step toward developing the reservoir area into a prominent tourism destination.
Under the project, the government will undertake a range of infrastructure works including reservoir beautification, development of a water sports centre, creation of picnic spots, upgradation of the rest house/inspection bungalow, and construction of a CC road with railings over the dam structure.
Officials said these interventions are aimed at boosting tourism potential in the region while improving visitor amenities and safety.
The state government has directed that the work must be completed within the sanctioned cost and stipulated timeline.
It has also made it mandatory to obtain technical approval before commencement, ensure a transparent tendering process, and strictly follow all government rules and procedural norms during execution.
Authorities have been instructed to maintain high construction quality standards, with a warning that any negligence at any stage will invite action as per rules.
Once completed, the project is expected to transform the reservoir zone into an attractive tourist hotspot, while also stimulating local economic activity and livelihood opportunities through tourism-led development.
