In a major move to simplify business operations in the national capital, the Delhi government has removed the requirement of a police license for seven types of commercial establishments. Effective immediately, entrepreneurs looking to open businesses such as restaurants, hotels, discotheques, amusement parks, auditoriums, swimming pools, and video game parlours no longer need to obtain a license or No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Delhi Police.
LG VK Saxena Implements Key Business Reform
The decision was officially signed off by Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, who exercised his powers under Section 28(2) of the Delhi Police Act, 1978. The step is seen as part of a broader effort to reduce red tape and make Delhi more business-friendly.
“This is a decisive step towards streamlining licensing systems and encouraging entrepreneurship in the capital,” said a statement from the LG’s office.
