Motherhood Hospital, Kharghar, organized a workshop- ‘Little Things about Pregnancy,’ at Panvel. The informative workshop was a boon for expecting parents. Dr Suresh Birajdar, Dr Anu Vij, Gynaecologist & Obstetrician, Dr Sapna Chaudhari, Dr Surabhi Siddhartha, Fetal medicine expert Dr. Priya Deshpande, Dr Kanupriya Rajeshwar, Dr Zoyna Khatri, and Dr Arjun Pirkad, briefed the couples about different aspects of pregnancy, childbirth and parenting, nutrition and exercise, the need of timely scanning, and dad’s duties.
Dr. Priya Deshpande, Fetal Medicine expert, Motherhood Hospital, Kharghar, said, “Pregnancy and childbirth is the most beautiful phase in every couple’s life. It gives a new meaning to the life. Utmost care has to be taken during those 9 months, as the first trimester is most crucial.A regular pregnancy screening allows early detection of health problems which women or the babies may face during pregnancy. Basically scans are done to assess the risk of the baby being affected by certain chromosomal abnormalitie, to check on the physical development of the baby and to check that it is growing adequately, to check the amount of amniotic fluid surrounding the baby in the womb, to determine the position of the placenta, to check the baby’s position before delivery. Furthermore, it will also help keep track about baby’s health by increasing the chance for a normal pregnancy”.
Dr Suresh Birajdar, Pediatrics & Neonatology, Motherhood Hospital, Kharghar, said, “Prenatal care is the act of having a healthy lifestyle during pregnancy which includes making good choices and going to the doctor for regular visits. More than 50 couples who participated in it, lauded it and took home the helpful suggestions and tips. Indeed, it was a worthy experience for all moms-to-be.
