A senior professor from the Department of Political Science at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has alleged that she has faced mental, professional, and institutional harassment for over 27 years, claiming the treatment was due to her religious identity.
Professor Rachna Kaushal has submitted a formal complaint to AMU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Naima Khatoon, in which she has accused the Dean and a senior professor of making objectionable communal remarks and misusing their official positions. According to the complaint, she has also attached audio recordings, written transcripts, and supporting documents as evidence.
In her representation, Prof. Kaushal stated that she was appointed as a Lecturer in 1998. She alleged that shortly after her appointment, she began experiencing discrimination and sustained mental harassment within the department.
The professor has sought institutional intervention and action from the university administration. As of the time of filing this report, AMU authorities have not issued an official response to the allegations.
